Coming out of hibernation

It’s finally spring and it’s time to come out of hibernation.  For lots of animals fall is a time to eat and bulk up, and then winter is the time to hibernate.  There are times that I think that we humans want to follow an instinct to do the same.  It seems as if trying [...]

Change Your Routine Today

Nothing livens up life’s party more than change. Oddly enough most people seek out consistency in their lives; we do many of the same things every day because they are comfortable. But today I urge you to do something different. Go off course a bit, add in something new. Do something a tiny bit uncomfortable. It’s good for [...]

5 Ways to Break Through a Weight Loss Plateau

A prettier plateau

Wonder why I’ve been so quiet lately?  Nothing to talk about.  My progress was going no where, and it was going no where and sneezing and coughing the whole time it was doing it.  I don’t exercise when I am sick, it does not “clear things up” the way others have suggested; it [...]

  • Cheers lots, I have found this article extremely useful!

  • I recently lost over 60lbs and went from size 42 waist to a 34. Exercise was a huge factor, but I would have to say what we eat and when is a more crucial factor. I try to eat 5-6 smaller protein-rich meals with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Also, I eat my biggest meal of the day in the morning and taper off with subsequent ones throughout the day. This helps get the metabolism going and keeps the appetite under control. Obese people often eat less than I do, except they skip breakfast, chug sugary sodas all day, snack on greasy carb-laden junk food and then gorge before dinner and up until bedtime. By doing that, you are essentially telling your body to store fats and metabolize foods at a slower rate.

Susan and Martha

Susan Sullivan and Nathan Fillion

When I am not listening to blistering riffs on my mp3 player to keep up the intensity of my workouts I am otherwise likely engrossed in watching an episode of Castle.  I like this show; funny, interesting, and well written, and it has Susan.

My favorite character on the show is Castle’s [...]

Step Six: Chart Your Progress, Celebrate your mini GOALS!

Step Four: Be public, be social about your quest.

I have been trying to lose 10 pounds for the last 15 years.  Now those 10 pounds are 25 pounds.  I started going public with my quest and writing my blog 2 months ago, and I have lost 10 pounds.  I did in two months what I could not do in 15 years.

Any questions?

Step Four [...]

Step Three: Make a list

Step Three:  Identify what you need to accomplish and make a list.

I have had way too much time on my hands lately, but I do manage to fill my day.  On the days that I make a list of things to do a whole lot gets accomplished; other days, not so much.  It may sound [...]
